Recently, i installed a few updates on my Laptop including windows explorer 8 but they were not properly installed probably the computer was not properly rebooted after the updates, so it started showing the error message "No Audio output device is installed" and also did not shut down properly. My colleague suggested the following steps and it worked. 1. Go to cmd in startup and right click "run as administrator". 2. Now type "chkdsk c: /f". It showed the message unable to lock disk, can do on restart . 3. After rebooting it did a chkdsk for about 15-20 minutes and everything is working properly after that.
